FAQs

Doesn’t my primary care doctor already review my medications?

Primary care doctors do review your medications, but there are real limits to what they can see during a short appointment. Most older adults are cared for by multiple specialists, use more than one pharmacy, and take a combination of prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, vitamins, and supplements, and much of that information never makes it into one shared record.

Here are some of the most common things that get missed:

  • Medications prescribed by specialists (cardiology, neurology, dermatology, GI, urgent care, etc.)

  • Over-the-counter medications (pain relievers, allergy meds, sleep aids, antacids)

  • Supplements and vitamins that can interact with prescriptions

  • Old medications that are still on the list but no longer needed

  • Timing issues, like medications taken at the wrong time of day

  • Duplicate therapies, where two providers prescribe similar treatments

  • Side effects that get brushed off as “just aging”

  • Medications filled at different pharmacies that don’t share information

  • Changes made after hospital or ER visits that aren’t communicated back to the PCP

  • Dose changes that weren’t actually implemented at home

  • Pills that look similar, leading to accidental double dosing

Primary care providers do their best, but they simply don’t have the time or full access to evaluate a 10-15 item medication list across multiple prescribers and pharmacies.

This is not a replacement for your primary care provider.
It’s a partnership designed to support the care you already receive and give you peace of mind.

Can’t I just call my local pharmacy if I have questions about my medications?

Of course, however, with a typical pharmacy, you might get a brief answer from someone who doesn’t know your full medical history or have your full medication list and you often have to navigate a phone tree or wait on hold. With PaceRx Consulting’s concierge pharmacist service, we have your complete patient profile and background, so every recommendation is personalized. You speak directly with me, Caroline Pace, PharmD., who knows you and your care history—no guessing, no long waits, no repeating yourself.

How is PaceRx Consulting’s concierge pharmacist service different from having a medical aide?

While a medical aide can help with picking up medications and organizing pill boxes, our concierge pharmacist service goes further. We provide personalized medication management, counseling, coordination with your doctors, medication therapy reviews, and ongoing support—so you not only get your medications organized, but you also have a pharmacist actively managing your care. We are more than happy to work in conjunction with a medical aide to help with medication training, etc.

What is a concierge pharmacist?

A concierge pharmacist offers personalized, one-on-one medication management and health support outside of a traditional pharmacy setting. Instead of waiting in line or getting quick answers at the counter, you have a dedicated pharmacist who knows your full medication history and is available for ongoing guidance and coordination with your healthcare team.

Who can benefit from our services?

We mostly cater to older adults who take multiple medications and want help simplifying their regimen. We also work closely with families and caregivers who manage medications for loved ones. Anyone looking for safer, more organized, and more confident medication use can benefit.

Do you take insurance?

PaceRx Consulting is a private-pay service and does not bill insurance. This allows us to spend the time needed with each patient, communicate freely with your healthcare providers, and offer personalized, high-quality care without the restrictions of insurance plans.

What happens during the free Meet & Greet?

The Meet & Greet is a 20-minute conversation — by phone or in person — to get to know each other and discuss your goals and challenges. It’s not a sales pitch or clinical visit, just an opportunity to see if our services are the right fit for your needs.

What is included in the Introductory Care Package?

This package includes two in-depth visits during the first week — one to review your medications and health background, and one for your personalized medication therapy review and recommendations. It also includes two months of follow-up support, including one in-person visit and seven-day-a-week access to your pharmacist for questions or concerns.

Are your services HIPAA-compliant?

Yes. All communication and records are handled securely using HIPAA-compliant platforms, including Spruce for messaging. Your privacy and safety are our top priorities. However, you are not required to use the Spruce app, if you prefer to communicate without the app you do so at your own risk.
